3 Things To Look Forward To At Smart Kitchen Summit Europe

Updated: Jun 15, 2020

With the enormous success of Smart Kitchen Summit over the past number of years, it is no surprise that it has expanded to Europe. Neither is it a surprise that our hometown of Dublin was chosen to host the first Smart Kitchen Summit Europe this June. Tech giants such as Facebook and Apple have chosen to locate their European headquarters in Ireland, while the Irish startup scene is buzzing. Not only that, but TechIreland lists 166 innovation hubs on its website, proving that Ireland is a formidable player in the technology space.

Smart Kitchen Summit Europe is taking place in the Guinness Storehouse, a short walk from the famous Guinness gate (and Recipe Guru's office!) on June 12th. With less than a month to go until industry experts gather in Dublin, we're sharing three things we're most looking forward to at Smart Kitchen Summit (SKS) Europe 2018.

1. Connecting with industry experts

How do you make the most of attending an industry conference? Network, network and network some more. Not only are we looking forward to catching up with Drop and Whisk, two companies with whom Recipe Guru has worked closely of late on exciting recipe content projects, but other heavy hitters will also be in attendance. With a speaker line-up that boasts experts from Google, Tyson Foods and Vorwerk to name but a few, we're looking forward to connecting and sharing insights with the giants of the food tech world.

2. Connecting with the future of food tech

We're always excited to discover other startups and the 8 companies chosen to pitch at the Startup Showcase represent the future of food tech. The connected kitchen and recipes are well represented amongst the 7 that have been announced, but we're most intrigued by the 8th finalist that for now remains a mystery. (Who doesn't love a good mystery?) We're looking forward to checking out their pitches and product demos in June.

3. Recipes are not dead

At Smart Kitchen Summit last October, celebrity chef Tyler Florence created headlines when he declared that recipes are dead. Since 2018 has undoubtedly become the year of the recipe, we'd like to think that this is untrue. We think Tyler would agree that they're not dead - they're simply evolving. Recipes are our thing, so it's no surprise that we're excited about the 'Personalized, Shoppable & Guided: Recipes Are Not Dead' session of SKS Europe. The panel includes Kishan Vasani from Dishq, Hestan's Jon Jenkins and Recipe Guru CEO and Founder Niamh Sterling.

*Edit 28/05/18: Due to a scheduling clash, Niamh will no longer be speaking on the above panel.*

If you're attending Smart Kitchen Summit Europe in June, feel free to get in touch if you'd like to grab a coffee or pop into Recipe Guru during your time in Dublin. We're also happy to offer our expert opinions on the Dublin bars and restaurants you should not miss! See you in June.
